Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
The original description emphasises the close relationship between daira and lycia Fabricius, and the fact that daira has also been caught in Zanzibar. Aurivillius (1898, 1922) classifies daira as an aberration of encedon Linne. This is confirmed by subsequent authors. Eltringham (1912, 1916) classifies it as a simple form. J. Pierre (1976) confirms this view.
