Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Described as very closely related to cerasa Hewitson. Eltringham (1912) considers that cerita is probably an aberration of cerasa, but retains its status as a species for lack of data. Carcasson (1961) confirms the status of cerita as the Ugandan subspecies.
