Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Druce (1875) classifies this taxon as a simple form. Aurivillius (1898) classifies it as an aberration of esebria Hewitson, and therefore as an Acraea rather than a Planema. Eltringham (1912, 1916) classifies amphiprotea as a form of esebria.
