Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Butler (1894) classifies this taxon as a synonym of lygus Druce (which he refers to as ligus). Aurivillius (1898) classifies albomaculata as a synonym of stenobea Wallengren. Carpenter (1932) confirms that albomaculata belongs to lygus, and not to stenobea. He states that Eltringham confused lygus and stenobea because he classified albomaculata as a form of stenobea and therefore found no differences in the genitalia. Carpenter thus presents, for the first time, the genitalia of the true stenobea, which exhibits significant differences and is closer to caecilia and caldarena than to lygus.
