Several species have been confused under this name (see endoscota, leucographa, boopis, etc.), which has generated much confusion regarding the geographical distribution of that taxon. Eltringham (1912) notes the inconsistency of the characters, without being able to link certain forms to specific regions. It was not until Pierre’s (1979) work on this group that numerous pro-species were identified, with admatha remaining confined to the Nigeria-Cameroon region.
