This taxon was initially classified as a subspecies of ansorgei and was elevated to the rank of species by Howarth (1969). Bernaud (2025) classifies acuta as a synonym of silvicola, previously described by Richelmann. The type specimen at the MNB (Berlin) is clearly the same species.
