Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
This description was initially classified by Aurivillius (1898, 1923) as a simple variety of cepheus. Classified as a form of cepheus by Eltringham (1912, 1916). Carcasson (1961) questions the true taxonomic rank of abdera and suggests that it may be a subspecies. Pierre (1978) confirms the specific distinction between abdera and cepheus.
