Observations et histoire de la classification de la description
Named camaena (1775), and subsequently camoena (1781, 1793) by Fabricius, Herbst (1792) and Godart (1819). However, the emendation is necessary due to the absence of the "oe" in Latin. Jones depicted in his Icones unpublished a camoena which is none other than the drawing of a zetes Linnaeus from East Africa (pl. 17), and a camaena (pl. 19) which is our present-day camaena. Eltringham (1912) considers that whilst the habitus is similar to neobule Doubleday, the genitalia exhibit specific characteristics.
